02-07-13: review – “little black submarines” by the black keys📝

song: “little black submarines” by the black keys

After extensive auditory review, i concluded that the song has several categories of musical themes that gradually breakdown throughout it entirety. First, it starts of somewhat delicate and easy going, then somewhere around the middle it mashes into a harder grunge-like cringe if raw guitar, followed by a cacophony of crushed grooves, diving drums and that raw-bone energy of the lone but lead guitar.

The songs flowery chorus consisting of the words, “that a broken heart is blind” is very solid to me. Yes, albeit a bit simple, almost high-school poetry like, it’s a phrase that’s mentioned without notice in the songs opener, and unsurprisingly reappears for the closer.

The raw mesh of the clashing drums and heavy-distorted guitar bring for a simple, yet great garage sounding melody that crashes through howling lyrics and brings for a nice and abrupt end. Simple yet sweet.

(***)3 stars! Classik!
